Recipe Terminology

  • Recipe - A recipe is the combination of ingredients purchased and tracked in the inventory system. It is important to utilize the recipe feature to ensure the quantities of each ingredient are properly attributed and tracked for replacing promptly when inventory is low or gone. This will prevent the recipes from displaying if the ingredients are not available.

  • Ingredient - A material or item that is used to create a recipe.

  • Direction - Another word for steps, direction is the process to combine or use ingredients to create a recipe. The directions given should be simple, straightforward, and easy to read for the most consistent final products.

  • Yield - The amount or quantity the collection of ingredients used will provide if the directions are followed correctly.

  • Servings - The number of individual servings the yield or final collection of ingredients used will provide if the directions are followed correctly.

  • Serving Cost - The cost per individual serving of the recipe.

  • Recipe Management - The tool to interface with the recipes and add, edit, or remove recipes. This tool can increase consistency of products yielded from ingredients within a location as well as across multiple branches and locations.
